Plagpy – an interesting case study

Plagpy business card

When photographer Sunil Jain wanted a name for his professional service company, we set up a quick brainstorming session. He was seeking a name that was short, catchy and interesting. Additionally, we wanted a unique, and, therefore highly trademarkable name. The name Plagpy satisfies all these requirements – it evokes curiosity and is a definite conversation-starter. Any guesses on why Plagpy was chosen? Write in the comments, please.

InsureGain

We had coined this name for Ramesh Chordia, in an informal across-the-table session, for his insurance services business. In use since 2004, InsureGain, of course, is made from the words Insure & Gain though it contains other keywords such as regain and sure. The domain name insuregain.com was also registered at the same time.

Dakshinavalli

Dakshinavalli seeks to research, document, revive and promote the ancient, south Indian craft of close-setted jewellery making. It is an ambitious project to revive the dying craft and to provide an exciting and meaningful vocation to the craftsman. The name Dakshinavalli has been created by the joining of two words, Dakshina meaning southern and Valli meaning a beautiful creeper. Valli is also the name of a Hindu goddess.
